For many dogs, the favorite thing is probably to go out for a walk with parents, take a walk, and make new friends. As a civilized dog keeper, the dog must wear leash and dog collar when going out.

There are many pet collars of different materials on the market. Generally more common are: nylon, leather, iron three collars. In terms of comfort, leather and nylon collars are more suitable for dogs, and iron collars are harder. In case of emergencies, iron collars may hurt the dogs.

Here are some pros and cons of different types of dog collar

Flat Dog Collar

This is the most common collar on the market. Generally, there are two materials: nylon and belt. The price range is very wide, but the essence is the same; The advantage is that it is easy to pick and put, and the dog will not have any uncomfortable; It feels that there is no limit to activity, and it is convenient to hang dog tags; The disadvantage is that accidents are easy to occur in battle; for long-haired and curly dogs, the flat collar is also easy to get the hair stuck.

Break-away dog Collar

This kind of collar looks very much like a normal strap collar in appearance, but the difference is that it has an extra buckle. The unique feature of this buckle is that once pulled by an external force (such as being bitten), it will quickly separate. In order to avoid that the dog pulls and causes the collar to open and fall off during the traction process, this collar actually designed with two buckles, and a traction buckle is added on both sides of the quick-open buckle, so that you are actually locked with the traction rope, which means that when the traction rope is tied, it becomes an ordinary strap collar

Choke Chains: There are three type: Bridle collar/P Chain/Prone Chain;

P-Chain: In fact, the use of P-chains is very complicated, and dog trainers generally do not easily recommend for the ordinary dog keepers to use. Because before the actual use of the dog, the keeper should first undergo repeated training to master the correct exertion method. Even if you use the P chain correctly, it still has some unavoidable shortcomings. Because the pulling pressure is concentrated on a thin rope, the P chain is more likely to cause the problem of intraocular pressure surge than the collar. This kind of chain should never be used to tie a dog somewhere, and the dog may suffocate directly during the struggle.

Bridle collar: This kind of collar will tighten when the dog is pulled, which just to ensure that the collar of the dog will not fall. But it will not play a role in suppressing the P chain has.

Prone Chain: Like the P chain, this is also a training choke chain. A thorn in the collar makes it look like a torture tool, but in fact it is safer than the thin P chain (provided that you really know how to use it correctly). When the dog pulls the leashes, the pressure from the collar is dispersed on the two chains instead of one thin rope, so it doesn’t feel so strangled (you can put the two on the arm to feel it). But even so, the shortcoming of this chain is like the P-Chain because of the same essentially structure. And if used improperly, the ring stabbing collar will make the dog very painful, and it will also cause the dog’s psychological problems

Harness Dog Collar

If your dog is small or delicate, using a harness instead of a collar when walking will avoid neck injuries. The harness is relatively safer. But just buy one randomly? Not really! If you want to train your dog to follow you better (rather than pulling the cart), don’t choose the kind of leash buckle on the back.

Front Buckle: When the dog walks in front of you and pulls forward, you can tighten the leash, the front buckle design of the chest strap will cause the dog to be pulled towards you, through this action, the dog’s attention will be drawn back to you.

H-shaped front buckle: This chest strap adds two longitudinal straps on the front chest and back, which will not affect the shoulder activity. It is more suitable for dogs who like to walk or run with dogs. It should be noted that because the structure of this chest strap is similar to the “H” type, the pressure will mainly act on the neck instead of the shoulder when forcing the dog to turn, and the pressure is not very balanced.

Freedom Harness: In addition, this chest strap has traction buckles on the front chest and back. When the dog pulls the traction rope, the pressure will be more evenly distributed throughout the chest strap.

Head Halter

This kind of traction training has the best effect, and it also has the best effect in distracting the dog’s attention. But this is not suitable for long-term wearing. When the dog can follow you well, you can use a collar or other chest strap instead. This type of traction is best suited for training. When the dog sees something of interest rushing forward, its head will be pulled back by the leash and turned to face you, then its attention will naturally focus on you.d

No dog collar or chest is almighty which all have pros and cons, and if used improperly, it may hurt your dog. Some professional trainers recommend using the Harness with better training effect to do the pre-training, and when the dog has formed a good accompanying habit, you can use a more relaxed and unlimited collar.

Dogs need training, and you, as his parents, also need to learn how to train. All tools can only be used to maximum effect if they are used correctly.
