There are many citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, and other citrus fruits, which are important in our diet and body. They are rich in Vitamins, potassium, and some fiber. Vitamin C is crucial to human health. And, cats also need vitamin C.
You may think and share some mandarin oranges and lemons to your feline friends. But there’s a question, can cats eat oranges, lemon or other citrus fruits?
Can cats eat Mandarin Oranges?
Generally speaking, the answer is NO! Basically, cats should not eat oranges and other citrus fruits. Citrus fruits like oranges and lemons are not good for cats. And also, the essential oils and psoralens contain in oranges are toxic to your furry friends. If your cat take some citrus fruits incautiously, she would most likely get diarrhea or will start to vomit. Furthermore, oranges contain high sugar and are too much sweet. Too much feeding for your cat will cause obesity.
The citrus fruits can also cause depression and photosensitivity to cats. Therefore, you’d better not feed your cat oranges or lemons.
So, if any of the following are observed for your cat or dog after having citrus fruits, please contact your vet asap:
Vomiting or diarrhea for more than 24 hours
Lethargic and withdrawn for more than 24 hours
Don’t eat or drink for more than 24 hours
