Milk is a good nutrition for people. People are used to having a glass of milk in the morning and evening to supplement their body’s nutrition. However, the nutritional value of milk for pet dogs is not so obvious. Many parents of Alaskan sled dogs initially thought milk should be good for dogs, but in fact, it was the opposite. Milk is forbidden in the dog’s diet. Alaskan sled dogs are more vulnerable to gastrointestinal function than some other pet dogs because of the extremely low climate.
In particular, Alaskan puppies are prone to vomiting, diarrhea or gastroenteritis. The research found that meat, milk and other foods are very easy to cause gastrointestinal problems in dogs. As a result, Alaskan sled dogs are not suitable for milk and are not good for their health. The nutrients in milk generally include low protein, low fat and high lactose, while the milk suitable for dogs should be high protein, high fat and low lactose. The ingredients of milk are totally opposite to the nutritional requirements of dogs. When Alaskan sled dogs drink milk, they are prone to lactose intolerance, vomiting and diarrhea.
To feed Alaskan sled dogs, we should give up milk and choose special dog milk powder or appropriate goat milk. It’s the owner’s responsibility to choose proper and healthy food for the dog. It’s also the parent’s duty to ensure the dog’s healthy and happy growth.
