The biggest characteristic of Beagle is that it has a pair of big hanging ears. Because of the special structure of the ears, beagles are more likely to develop earwax than some other pet dogs. If it is serious, it will breed ear mites and cause ear canal inflammation. In the process of breeding beagles, we should regularly care for their ears and clean them to ensure that they are clean and healthy.

The two big ears on the top of the Beagle’s head hang on both sides of the head. The big ears cover the ear canal, which makes the inner ear canal not ventilated and easy to accumulate grease, dust and water. Once it is not cleaned for a long time, it is easy to breed bacteria, resulting in an unpleasant smell in the ear canal. Generally speaking, it is better for parents to check the ears of beagles once a week and clean them when necessary. It’s not difficult to clean the ear canal for beagles, because dogs are small, so it’s easy to control dogs first, but not as difficult to control and control as large dogs. Of course, before cleaning the ear canal, it is necessary to prepare relevant cleaning tools. For example, cotton swab, alcohol cotton ball, 3% sodium bicarbonate ear drops or 2% boric acid water, ear plucking powder and scissors for ear plucking (this requires purchasing professional pet ear plucking scissors.)

After stabilizing the Beagle’s body and head, it’s time to move. First, sprinkle some ear plucking powder into the ear canal, and then gently knead the ear canal by holding the dog’s ear, so as to better play the role of ear plucking powder. After 1-2 minutes, you can use scissors to start plucking ear hair for beagle dogs. Note that ear plucking should be done quickly and steadily, which will bring the least pain to beagles. After plucking the ear hair, if there is still earwax, drop some 3% sodium bicarbonate ear drops or 2% boric acid water into the dog’s ear canal, then gently knead the Beagle’s ear, after the earwax softens, gently remove the earwax with small tweezers or cotton swabs, and finally clean it with clean cotton swabs.

Note: when cleaning the earwax, tweezers and cotton swabs should not go deep into the ear canal to prevent the dog’s eardrum from being punctured or the mucous membrane of the ear canal from being scratched.
