Large and medium-sized dogs (such as wolfhound), due to their frequent movement on rough ground, can automatically smooth out the long toes and claws. Small dogs, such as Pekingese dog, Lady dog, seldom run on the rough ground and wear less, while toenails grow very fast, too long toenails will make dogs uncomfortable, and also easily damage indoor wooden furniture, cotton textiles and carpets, sometimes too long toenails will split, easy to cause local infection.

In addition, the dog’s big toe has degenerated, and there are flying toes slightly above the inner side of the foot, commonly known as “wolf claw”. It is a pure superfluous degenerate without practical function, which can hinder walking or scratch itself.
