The ideal shoulder height of adult Papillon Dog should be 20-28cm, and the ideal weight should be 4-4.5kg. The proportion of the body is slightly longer than the shoulder height. The dog has a small head, a medium width, a slightly arched head, a round nose and a black nose. The eyebrows are well angled. The snout is sharp. In the center of the head, there is an obvious white spot hair, which is sandwiched by the main color of the body, either wide or narrow.

Eyes: dark, round, not protruding, medium size, with alert eyes. The angle of the inner eye is in the same line with the stop short end. Black eye socket.

Ears: big ears, separated from left and right, with the ear root behind the head. The variety with rich decorative wool is superior. Erect or pendulous ears, large and rounded at the back of each side of the head. The ears of the standing ears are inclined to extend, just like the wings of a butterfly flying. When alert, each ear is back at an angle of about 45 degrees to the head. The pinna should be strong enough to keep the whole ear upright. The earlobe type is similar in other aspects to the common Papillon Dog we know, but the ears are drooping and completely downward.

Defect: small ear, too sharp tip, too high ear position; one ear is erect or part of it is drooping.

Head: small head. The width of the head is medium, and it is slightly arched between the two ears. In the position where the muzzle is combined with the head, the contour of the stop is very clear.

Body: height, not too strong, chest medium, back straight.

Neck, back line, body: neck length is medium. Topline: straight and flat. The chest depth is medium and the ribs are well expanded. Fold your abdomen up.

Forequarters: the shoulders are well defined and tilted back without affecting movement. The forelegs are thin, the bones are thin but they must be straight, and the wolf claws can be removed. Feet are thin and long (toes do not turn in or out)

Hindquarters: proper development and angle. The hind legs are thin, and the bones are thin. From the back, the two legs are parallel. The festival does not turn inward or outward. If the hind foot has wolf claws, it must be removed. The feet are thin and long, and the toes do not turn inward or outward.

Limbs: the bones are strong and parallel, the back side of the forelegs has decorative hair, and the decorative hair of the back legs is like pants. The forelimb wolf claw can be removed, and the hind foot must be removed if it has wolf claw.

Foot: long and thin as rabbit’s foot, the toes are very raised, and covered with fine hair. The feet are thin and long, and the toes do not turn inward or outward.

Tail: long tail, high tail root, large feathered decorative hair on the tail and bent towards the back. The tail is long and the root of the tail is high, which is on the back. The tail has long and flowing feathers. The tail feathers hang on both sides of the body. Defect: low tail root; no back or too short.

Phimosis: the hair is rich, long, delicate, like silk, elegant, straight and elastic. The hair on the back and on both sides of the body is straight. The chest is rich in hair. No undercoat. The hair of head, muzzle, front of forelimb and hind limb from paw to hock is tight and short, the edge of ear has beautiful ornament, and the inside has medium length, soft and smooth hair. The back of the front leg is covered with fur, which reduces to the ankle. The back leg to the hock section is covered with “breeches” (also known as culottes). The hair on the foot is shorter, but the delicate trim may cover the foot.

Color: the ideal color is always white with other color stripes. In the head, the color must be a color other than white covering both ears, front and back, and extending to the eyes without breaking in the middle. Head of solid color, from the tip of the nose, there is a white tendon in the middle of the face is the first choice. It’s important to have a symmetrical face pattern. The size, position, shape and even the presence or absence of colored stripes on the body are not important. As long as there is enough melanin in the eyes, nose and lips, there is no difference in the color.

The following are serious defects: colors other than white do not cover the ears (front and back) or extend from the ears to the eyes. It is not a serious defect to set a circle of white edge around the ear or spread a small amount of white hair on other colors without affecting the butterfly appearance. Any all white dog or dog without white is disqualified.

Gait: relaxed, fast, calm and elegant. There should be no rowing or stiff hips.
